Watson graces British Vogue

I can't wait to get my hands on the new July issue of British Vogue featuring Emma Watson. Watsson graces the cover with dark lips, Audrey Hepburn esque eyebrows, and chic slicked back hair. The Old Hollywood glamour atmosphere of the shoot fits Watson's classy personality to a T. I remember Watson's photoshoot with Teen Vogue in 2009 was by far one of my favorites, the rich colors, preppy meets Victorian fashion was perfectly styled. My love for Watson doesn't just stem from the fact that she plays Hermoine Granger in the beloved Harry Potter series, her roll in fashion has progressed substantially over the years. Having once been the face of Burberry, photographed at various events in designer royalty, and now establishing her own FairTrade ethical clothing line with People Tree, Watson is making a mark in other industries besides movies. Take a look back at my favorite shoot from 2009, and the most current shoot in British Vogue!

With summer just around the corner, and spring here, I am ready for breezy summer dresses and flowy tops. This spring I have really been inspired by so many things, and I'm finally getting to blog about it! my schedule this semester has been crazy and I wish I had more time to blog, in fact I should probably   be studying for finals, but hey, I needed a break! I have come to the conclusion that all of my inspirations  have a theme- Victorian and Fantasy. So, put on your best lace dress, set the table for a tea party in the yard, and bring an afternoon book to rest your eyes on, when the sun goes down. And voila, everyone can be inspired!

Leibovitz's Disney Depiction

I have many loves... one being Disney, the most magical place on earth. When I was scrolling through blogs on this snowy Sunday afternoon, I found these photos by Annie Leibovitz and was fascinated. The spread features celebrities in an advertisement campaign in celebration of Disney's "Year of a Million Dreams."  I loved how the irony of fantasy and reality combined, whoever casted Olivia Wilde as the Evil Queen and Rachel Weisz as Snow White knew exactly what they were doing. As much as I would have liked to see someone else as Cinderella, Scarlett Johansen looks stunning. Oh, and that tiarra she's wearing isn't from Bippiddi Boppidi Boutique, try Harry Winston. It's only 62 carats and covered in diamonds, no big deal.

And the Oscar Goes To...

There is one night every year, that makes me wish I was an actress for a night, and even more... a stylist. The fashion at the Academy Awards this year did not disappoint me. Of course, there were some fashion choices that made me wonder what crawled into their head and made them think leaving the house like that was okay. My favorite look of the night was the Givenchy couture dress with Van Cleef and Arpels jewelry that Cate Blanchett wore. The geometrical construction of the sleeves and the high waist line added a high fashion appeal that no other dress possessed. I'm pretty sure the older Cate Blanchett gets, the better she dresses and the more Hepburn she exudes, I love it.

Not really feeling all the nude colors this year (cough cough Gwyneth Paltrow), but Mandy Moore did manage to pull it off pretty well in a Monique Lhullier gown.
The L'Wren Scott dress got some negativity, but I think the emerald jewelry really pulls the look together beautifully.
Michelle Williams somehow makes looking ghostly uber chic in Chanel couture.
And lastly, my second favorite choice of the night, was the Tom Ford lace and bedazzled dress worn by Anne Hathaway.

A Retro Day at the Beach

With summer just around the corner, and the weather getting warmer, I'm ready to go to the beach! My inspiration for this post... Barbies. When I was younger, my Mom's friend bought me a book filled with pictures about collectible vintage Barbies. I think it was ever since I got that book, I have treasured the beauty of "vintage." What I love most about the fashion of the late 1950s and early 1960s is the sexiness of modesty. Wearing a swim suit to the beach was so much more of a fashion statement, now it is a competition of who can show the most skin.  For those of you that make going to the beach not only about relaxation, but also fashion.... I commend you. To achieve this retro, day at the beach look, you will need the following: cat eye sunglasses, red lipstick (preferrably Chanel #75), a body hugging one piece swim suit with a sweet heart neckline, and if your feeling extra spontaneous add a floppy hat to protect harmful rays from your ageless skin.

It's Getting Closer

Bonjour!
I have been lacking on keeping my blog updated. Since I blogged last, a lot has happened... I backpacked across Italy (Pisa, Napoli, Venice, Florence, and Rome), vistited London and Ireland (Dublin and Galway) and enjoying my final days in Paris. I can't belive that my time in Europe is coming to and end... it's such a bittersweet feeling. I try not to think about the fact that in 6 days I will be leaving this place, it's become my home. No more free art museums, no more pain au chocolats, no more handsome French men, and no more Paris... I don't like this one bit.

On Monday my Fashion Merchandising and Marketing class went to Georges Rech design headquarters. The room was filled with sewing machines, sketches, mannequins, and clothing. I felt like I was in my Clothing Construction class at Marymount, only ten times more intimidating. The head designer- who went by Jerry, gave us a tour of the studio. We got a preview to what the new line will look like for Fall 2012, it's crazy to think about how early the construction starts on clothing collections.

Today I spent the day exploring around Paris, trying to do the things I had left to do. I went to the Bvlgari Jewelry Exhibition at Grand Palais and fell in love. The turquoise and diamond pieces were insane, if you know me... you know my obsession with turquoise. All of the pieces were stunning and so intricate. I am positive by the time I was done looking at everything, I had diamonds and jewels reflecting off my pupils. Below are pictures from today, including my favorite Bvlgari pieces.
